Billionaire Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim was recently talking to Nancy Illoh of The Money Show. Here are some of what he said:
“People mention Twitter. I don’t even know what’s Twitter. Twitter, Facebook, etc. I can tell you in 10 years to this time, you won’t see them again. Things do change.
That’s why the owner of Facebook is buying some new successful businesses like WhatsApp so that he doesn’t go down. Several years back, did anything like WhatsApp exist?
In 5 years’ time, Google and Yahoo! will disappear. Google was once blocked in China – a country that controls a large % of money circulation in the world. These tech companies would start bouncing off (offending) countries that would be blocking them one by one.”’
He said he wants to become governor of Ondo to bring about infrastructural development and repairs like roads and others. Ondo State has lots of natural resources that are still abandoned. Why? The state ought to be independent of Federal allocations. They shouldn’t owe any salaries at all; and they owed 7 months salaries. The allocations they get from the Federal movement can be used to pay salaries while approximately 50% of the funds would still be remaining. What have they done with that money?
As for ailing companies, he said the Federal government should call a round-table discussion to find out why the companies are failing and what can be done to save the situation. If a company that previously paid 8,000 workers monthly had to be forced to downside to 3,000, what would happen to the rest of 5,000 redundant income earners? A business must be sustainable before it can be profitable.
Before you criticize this man. Please note these facts:
He’s been decorated with national awards in recognition of his contributions to Nigerian economy. He owns 16 successful companies, some of which are located abroad and are doing very fine.
Someone like Jimoh Ibarahim is not a dullard when he speaks. What are your achievements in life? Think about that before you start criticizing him.
